Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

Lucere's Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

Hormones naturally found in the body are responsible for controlling basic bodily functions. Some of these functions include mood, libido, immune functions, appetite and even digestion. Your hormones essentially act as an internal communication system between cells to coordinate these functions. When your hormones are not in balance, these bodily functions are greatly impacted. This also occurs during perimenopause and menopause.

Lucere’s Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is used to help women and men when their hormones are not balanced, and hormone levels have dropped. BHRT is highly effective for easing the symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause.

Lucere's Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy Benefits:

  • Increased libido
  • Improved mental acuity
  • Improved mood
  • Improved blood sugar balance
  • Improved cholesterol levels
  • Improved muscle mass
  • Better quality of sleep

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BHRT?

Hormones play an important part in regulating many of our bodily functions, and when our hormones become out of balance or drop, this can negatively impact our health and overall well-being. Lucere’s Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is an effective therapy for women and men who are experiencing a drop in their hormone levels, or if their hormones are not balanced. This treatment is commonly used to ease symptoms of perimenopause and menopause.

What does BHRT stand for and how does it work?

BHRT stands for Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy. It involves the use of supplemental doses of hormones that have a chemical structure identical to the hormones naturally produced by the human body. They are often derived from plant estrogens. Estrogen, progesterone and testosterone are among the most commonly replicated and used in treatment.

What is Menopause Management?

Menopause Management includes the use of conventional hormone replacement therapy and/or bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for the management of symptoms associated with hormonal changes. Managing symptoms of menopause can provide life-altering benefits including management of hot flashes, mood changes, vaginal dryness, changes in libido, and sleep disturbance.

What is hormone imbalance?

Hormones are special chemicals produced by glands in the body. They act as messengers by sending information from the brain, telling your internal organs how to function. A hormone imbalance occurs when there is a decrease in hormone production. This can occur at any time, but most often occurs between the ages of 35-55 years old.

How do you take BHRT?

BHRT is an individualized process at Lucere, and we customize your treatment plan based on your needs and what our medical experts suggest for best results. BHRT comes in a variety of forms, including:

  • Creams
  • Injections
  • Patches
  • Gels
  • Tablets

Your bloodwork will be done at regular intervals to monitor your body’s response to treatment. It is important to note that BHRT may or may not be covered under your private insurance.

What is the difference between traditional vs. bioidentical in hormone replacement therapy?

Hormones used in traditional hormone replacement therapies are made from the urine of pregnant horses and other synthetic hormones. Bioidentical hormones are identical chemicals to those our bodies produce naturally and are made from plant estrogens.
