Frequently Asked Questions

How does this treatment work?

Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport are expertly injected in the are where you are experiencing excessive sweating. The injections block the nerve signals that are responsible for triggering sweating. Once blocked, the sweat glands stop producing an unnecessary excess of sweat.

How many units of Botox or Dysport do I need to stop the sweating?

The number of units required depends on the individual, the treatment areas being addressed and the previous treatment history of the patient.

Can I react to this treatment?

It is possible to have an adverse reaction to any medication which is why you should see someone who is trained in the management of complications of laser and cosmetic dermatologic procedures. Though the risk of adverse reactions is very low, Lucere is proud to offer safe neuromodulator treatments in Edmonton. Our dermatologist is an expert who is often asked to intervene when patients from other clinics experience adverse side effects of skin treatments.

Is this treatment painful?

When administered by a professional, injections should not be a painful experience. At most, you will feel a tiny prick or pinch-like feeling that will only last seconds.

Are there any side effects?

If administered correctly by a highly trained professional, neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport have very few side effects. You may experience a little redness, but this effect shouldn’t last too long. Slight bruising, though rare, can also occur.

How much does Lucere's Excessive Sweating treatment cost?

We are very proud to offer Regional Pricing (based on areas treated) to get you the best results. At Lucere, we are proud to offer authentic, expertly injected neuromodulators. It is important for patients to note that other service providers dilute products at times to offer a lower cost per unit. We use predictable, reliable products that are not diluted. We treat based on what your individual needs are, as no two clients are the same.

How long do the effects of this treatment take to work?

Your injections begin to work 24 to 48 hours after being injected, however, do not expect to see full results until 2 full weeks after treatment. When neuromodulators start to work, you will feel a slight tightening of your muscles, noticing a reduction in the amount of sweat produced by your sweat glands.

How long does this treatment last?

The duration of effect varies. Often, for people who are new to the procedure, they may need the treatment more frequently. We treat you only with the units you need. With consistent, optimal treatment, you will only need to come in 2-3 times per year for injections.

Should I get this treatment if I am pregnant?

No! You should not get neuromodulator treatments if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The effects of Botox and Dysport in pregnant women is not well studied, therefore, we do not administer it to women who are pregnant at Lucere.
