Lucere’s Botox (Anti-Wrinkle) Treatment

Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport and Nuceiva work by relaxing muscles in the face, which softens expressions that lead to fine lines and wrinkles. It reduces dynamic lines that are created through intense expressions and overused facial muscles, such as forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet around the eyes. When Expertly Injected, Botox helps to keep you looking less tired and more youthful.

What is Botox?

Botox is an incredible solution for fine lines and wrinkles on our faces, yes, but it’s no magic! So, what is Botox and where does it come from? Botox comes from a neurotoxin produced by clostridium botulinum, which is the bacterium responsible for producing botulinum toxins. It sounds scary, but when used in very small doses, they create the basis for getting rid of those stubborn forehead lines and crow’s feet. When handled by an expertly trained professional, Botox can do more than just enhance our images cosmetically. Medically speaking, Botox can alleviate conditions such as intense headaches, excessive sweating, and even reduce jaw tension.

Will my Botox injections lead to a “frozen face?”

There is such a thing as too much Botox! When administered by our expert cosmetic injectors and Board-Certified Dermatologist at Lucere, you will be able to continue making facial expressions while having a relaxed, well-rested face with no lines. Botox should never leave you with a ‘frozen’ effect, as that means too much Botox has been administered. The treatment relaxes the treated muscles, and with a skilled injector, you will still be able to display your entire range of expressions. Our philosophy at Lucere is ‘Look Good, Not Done’ and we stand by treatments that are performed by experts in the correct way, leaving you well-rested and beautiful, not looking over done.

Can I have my Botox treatment during my consultation appointment?

Absolutely! Because we have an on-site Board-Certified Dermatologist, we can absolutely administer your treatment if you wish to move forward.

Where can I get injected for Botox?

Botox is mostly used to treat, reduce and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in key areas on your forehead, between your eyebrows and the crow’s feet found around your eyes. Cosmetically, it can also be used to slim the face, decrease lines around the mouth/jaw, flip the lip and lift the corners of the mouth. In addition, Botox is extensively used to treat over 20 medical conditions, including migraines, jaw tension, eye squints, overactive bladders, excessive sweating (under the arms, hands and feet) as well as dystonia (involuntary muscle contractions or spasms).

How many units of Botox do I need?

The number of units required depends on the individual, the treatment areas being addressed and the previous treatment history of the patient.

How long does Botox take to work?

Botox begins working 24 to 48 hours after being injected, however, do not expect to see full results and that ‘Botox effect’ until 2 full weeks after treatment. When Botox starts to work, you will feel a slight tightening of your muscles, noticing a beautiful reduction in facial lines and a more youthful appearance.

How long does Botox last?

The duration of effect varies and generally lasts 3-4 months. Often, for people who are new to the procedure, they may need the treatment more frequently. We treat you only with the units you need. With consistent, optimal treatment, you will only need to come in 2-3 times per year for Botox.

Can I react to Botox?

It is possible to have an adverse reaction to any medication which is why you should see someone who is trained in the management of complications of laser and cosmetic dermatologic procedures. Though the risk of adverse reactions is very low, Lucere is proud to offer safe Botox treatments in Edmonton. Our dermatologist is an expert who is often asked to intervene when patients from other clinics experience adverse side effects of skin treatments.

Does it hurt to get Botox?

When administered by a professional, Botox should not be a painful experience. At most, you will feel a tiny prick or pinch-like feeling that will only last seconds.

Are there any side effects?

If administered correctly by a highly trained professional, Botox has very few side effects. You may experience a little redness, but this effect shouldn’t last too long. Slight bruising, though rare, can also occur. We refer to Botox as a “lunch time treatment,” as you can come into our clinic on your lunch break, get your Botox, and return to work with no problem. Your Expert Injector will go through all this information during your complimentary consultation.

Can I have Botox when I am pregnant?

This is not well studied, so we do not offer this treatment to pregnant women. However, at Lucere, we believe in offering the best skin treatments in Edmonton for everyone. If you’re pregnant, we have many light procedures and skincare products that are safe to use during pregnancy to maintain a radiant glow.

Who should inject my Botox?

Only a highly trained medical professional, like a Board-Certified Dermatologist or his team of trained Nurse Injectors, should be administering your Botox treatments. Because we can administer over 5,000 injectable treatments per year, our injectors are highly experienced in the most advanced injection techniques for Botox and Filler treatments.

Is Botox only for women?

Not at all! We have many male clients because they believe that Lucere is the best place for Botox for men in Edmonton. Most men require more treatment units than women, only because their muscles are typically larger and stronger. Initially, they may require more frequent treatments, however, all patients will slowly require fewer treatment sessions over time.

How much does Botox cost?

We are very proud to offer Regional Pricing (based on areas treated) to get you the best results. At Lucere, we are proud to offer authentic, expertly injected Botox. It is important for patients to note that other service providers dilute products at times to offer a lower cost per unit. We use predictable, reliable products that are not diluted. We treat based on what your individual needs are as no two clients are the same.
